Buzzerfest: results and thanks.

Congratulations to Carleton (Shane, Gabe, Chris, and Neal), who
defeated Chicago (Jeff, Ben, Kathy, and Will) 295-150 in the finals
of Princeton Buzzerfest V: Still Crazy After All These Years. Full
stats from the double round-robin can be found on our website:
http://campuscgi.princeton.edu/~cbowl/bzv/stats.html

The top scorer was Dave Hayes of Rutgers A, who used his first pick
of "books I found on the discount rack at the U-Store" to acquire R.
W. Griffiths' "The Reign of King Henry VI." (Not surprising, given
that Dave submitted a bonus about Henry VI.) Gabe Lyon of Carleton,
the number two scorer, took home "The Archaeology of Britain: A Guide
from the Upper Paleolithic to the Industrial Revolution." Rounding out
the top five scorers were Adam Fine of Maryland, Jeff Bennett of
Chicago, and Shane Ewert of Carleton. The victorious Carleton team
then selected from the remaining books, choosing David Attenborough's
"The Life of Birds," "Medieval Welsh Poems: An Anthology," "Kea, Bird
of Paradox: The Evolution and Behavior of a New Zealand Parrot," and
"War Correspondents of the Anglo-Zulu War." Jeff Bennett, captain of
second-place Chicago, was stuck with "The Military Memoirs of General
John Pope" as a fitting reward for his tournament-high 12 negs.

I'd like to thank Charlie Steinhice, whose packets from the Moon Pie
Classic made this tournament possible. (Those interested in
purchasing the complete set of Moon Pie/Buzzerfest questions should
contact Charlie.) Other thanks go out to Seth Teitler from Berkeley
for providing a freelance packet, and to everyone who helped me edit
questions and write the finals packets, to wit: Brian Beck, Chris
Frankel, Philip Hall, David Isaacson, Larissa Kelly, Brad Klein, Ben
Malkevitch, George Perez, Dave Sachs, Barbara Slote, Howesiang Tan,
Tom Ventimiglia, Will Wong, Ray Yang, and tournament director Lenny
Kostovetsky.

Statistics for Buzzerfest V thanks to Jason Weill of Carnegie Mellon,
creator of Livestat, and Ben Malkevitch who adapted Livestat for use
as a web page.

Thanks again and we hope to see you next spring at Buzzerfest VI.
