Re: Moc Masters

Stephen,

Do not apologize for your round at Moc Masters. I thought it was one
of the best in the tournament.

There is no such thing as a round that is 'too easy'. An ideal round
is one in which even the weakest team can answer about 15 of the
tossups and get 10-20 pts on the bonii if unopposed. The best teams
should be able to answer 19-20 of the tossups and get 20-30 pts on
the bonii if unopposed. I figure that an average combined score of
500-600 pts is about right.

I tell the kids on my high school team that the trick is to structure
the questions in such a way that the best teams answer on early clues
but that by the end of the question even your little sister can
answer them. If we write such that only the best teams can answer,
we will drive off folks who are new to the game.

Just my opinion. By the way ... I think I heard you are going to
Tech. Hope you can help pull us out of the slump we have been in
since our glory days in the mid-nineties.
