Smithtown West is a public high school located in Smithtown, Suffolk County, New York. The team regularly plays the Long Island circuit and is a competitor in Long Island's Regional Quiz Bowl league. The team has seen reduced activity in recent years, with one real tourney per year until a resurgence in activity in the 2015-2016 season when nine tournaments were played and they finally got their own QBWiki page. They also qualified for the HSNCT, NSC, and NAC in that year.
Smithtown was also a yearly competitior in MSG Varsity's The Challenge until the cancellation of the show.
They are also locally known for defeating East Brunswick three times during the 2015-2016 season, including one in the final of a tournament for their first-ever tourney victory; each of these wins was a massive upset.
