In 2026, Samin was involved in a major quizbowl misconduct incident related to set security violations. While writing for [[MONSTER]], he accessed and read questions from the set a public Discord server prior to its release, prompting reports to the Quizbowl Misconduct Committee and subsequent sanctions from [[NAQT]]. Following these sanctions, Asif escalated the situation by sending messages to an editor threatening to leak the set unless unspecified demands were met within three days.
