Russell was the 2008 NAQT HSNCT Small School Champion and the Small School runner up in 2009, 2010, and 2013. The school was coached by Matt Knupp until a scandal led to his fall from grace during the 2008-2009 KAAC season.
Russell's recent successes have included two KAAC Quick Recall and overall State Championships in 2025 and 2026, along with former player Ayog Prasad being the only player in Kentucky history to qualify for IPNCT finals in 2021.
