West Point High School is a "Small" school located in Cullman County, AL.

West Point High School's Scholar's Bowl Team began competing outside of their local county league in the Fall of 2012, when former Brindlee Mountain and Columbia High School coach Lee Henry became coach.

West Point remained undefeated at Cullman County Scholar Bowl for seven years running as of 2018.

The team was awarded the class 5A state championship honors in both 2016 and 2017 at the ASCA High School State Championship.

Recent History

In their first year of playing true Quiz Bowl, West Point High School went undefeated at the Cullman County Scholar Bowl Championship and at the ASCA District Tournament. They also qualified for the ASCA High School State Championship for the first time in the school's history. Unfortunately, team MVP Ricky Arendall fell ill the morning of the State Championship Tournament and was unable to attend. West Point went 0-5 at the event. However, the team also placed at several other events and competed at the 2013 HSNCT, where they missed making the Small School Playoffs by one win. They officially placed #15 in Small Schools at the 2013 HSNCT.

In their second year under Coach Henry, the West Point Scholar's Bowl Team made it to the "Elite 8" at the ASCA High School State Championship before losing to #1 seed Grissom High School.

West Point A and West Point B both competed in the inaugural NAQT Small School National Championship (SSNCT) in Minneapolis, MN and in the 2014 HSNCT in Chicago.

West Point broke the single-game ASCA scoring record on February 10, 2017 when they scored 660 of a possible 700 in a win over Holly Pond.

West Point won the 2016 and 2018 Snead State Scholars Bowl.
