Albemarle High School is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, and is coached by Matt Clay. Albemarle is active in VHSL and previously attended invitational circuit events. Since 2009, the school had included the Math, Engineering, and Science Academy.
In VHSL, Albemarle was part of the VHSL Northwest Region until the 2014 VHSL Realignment. Between then and the 2018 VHSL Realignment, the school was part of VHSL Region 5A North. Starting with the 2017–18 season, Albemarle will be part of VHSL Class 5 Region D.
Albemarle won the VHSL State Championship in the 5A division in 2014 and 2015, defeating Thomas Jefferson both times (these 2 games are believed to be Thomas Jefferson's only losses to anyone except Maggie Walker in 25 years of VHSL participation).
