Belvidere High School is located in Belvidere, Illinois, which is just east of Rockford. It competes in Class AA, the "large school" division, of the Illinois High School Association’s State Championship Series. The Bucs also compete in the Northern Illinois Conference (NIC-10) & are previous contestants on Bergstrom Stateline Quiz Bowl.

Belvidere has been one of the stronger quiz bowl programs in northern Illinois. Unfortunately, the Bucs are in the vicinity of rivals Rockford Auburn & Belvidere North whom they've finished 2nd to many times in various tournaments over the years. The team made it to the Quarterfinals of the 1996 IHSA State Championship Tournament, and they finished 2nd in the Masonic tournament that year. More recently, the team has found a resurgence first winning the 2017 Byron Kickoff, the 2018 Belvidere Kickoff, and the Standard Division of the 2019 Loyola Ultima. In 2023, they finished 2nd in the Standard Division of the Reinstein Varsity. In 2024, Belvidere finally won the NIC-10 title & their Masonic Sectional besting Auburn.
