Duke is known for leaving every tournament they attend before the tournament is complete. In a quirky move, despite continuously having a quizbowl team since the 1980s, Duke has not attended either NAQT Sectionals or ACF Regionals, the two most basic tournaments in collegiate quizbowl, since at least 2001.
These two trends were broken in 2009 when Duke ventured forth to the Southeast SCT Sectional at UGA and stayed for the entire tournament.
