Face-off Minnesota was a televised event held in May of 2006. It was sponsored by Border Foods, the Star Tribune newspaper, and Twin Cities Public Television, the local PBS affiliate. NAQT and the MQBA intended for it to become an annual event but for unknown reasons it ceased to continue. Teams qualified for Face-off Minnesota from top finishes at affiliated local NAQT tournaments, including the Southwest Minnesota State University Tournament, the 2005 GINVIT, and the 2006 SAVANT.

The tournament was held at the University of Minnesota - Rochester with Ken Jennings serving as the moderator. During the quarterfinal rounds, which first aired on May 14, 2006, Cretin-Derham Hall defeated Minnetonka 330-325 and Eden Prairie beat Mounds Park Academy 450-160. On May 21, 2006, Chaska defeated Armstrong and St. Thomas Academy defeated DeLaSalle. On May 28, Chaska defeated Cretin-Derham Hall and St. Thomas Academy defeated Eden Prairie to move into the finals, where St. Thomas Academy eventually scored a convincing victory over Chaska. The four members of the victorious Saint Thomas Academy team were Josh Mollner, Jack Boyle, Tom Sullivan, and Kevin Partington.
