February is a bad month for quiz bowl, with a number of scandals occurring or becoming public.
2009- the Neil Sammader cheating incident
2009- Matt Knupp's scandal
2009- the incident at the Southeast SCT (DII)
2010-
2011- the Dmitri Halikias fraud/cheating incident
2012-
2013- Announcement of Josh Alman's cheating at various 2012 events
It is also prone to snow storms which ruin or reschedule sites of NAQT SCT and ACF Regionals, perhaps the only two bright spots of the month.
