NAQT Delaware State Championship
The NAQT Delaware Championship is a high school quizbowl tournament held every January (usually the fourth Saturday). The host rotates, but is often kept in northern Delaware where a majority of the quizbowl teams are located.
This tournament is earlier than most NAQT state tournaments. This is because the Comcast Academic Challenge used to be during the month of February, and the Blue Hen is usually held in March. The tournament used to be held in February until in 2005 Comcast switched to Saturday tapings, which in turn caused the 2005 tournament to be canceled.
The tournament is sometimes run on a level A set because the end-of-year state championship set is usually not available in January. In the beginning, the easier difficulty better matched the field strength, but this is becoming less of an issue as teams improve.
