Pasha Paterson was a member of the Collegiate (VA) quiz bowl team from 1993-1997, was its captain for the 1996-1997 season, and served as an assistant coach from 1997-2002. He has appeared sporadically in other trivia contests since then.

Quiz Bowl Record

The Collegiate team finished third in both seasons of Battle of the Brains in which Paterson was a starter. In the first match of the 1995-1996 season, he was called out on-camera by host Garrett Chester when he showed up to the early-September taping wearing a pressed shirt, coat, and tie, but also shorts and sandals, which would otherwise have been concealed behind the contestants' desk. In the following season, during their semifinal match against St Christopher's School, he asked host May-Lily Lee if the team could forego a difficult bonus question and instead "take the physical challenge", causing a brief stoppage of play (which was not edited out of the episode) while Lee waited for the studio's crew to stop laughing in the sound booth.

He was a contemporary of Amanda Goad, and competed directly against her Governor's School team on multiple occasions as part of Collegiate's team (losing all but one such matchup), but the two never faced off in individual play.

Jeopardy!

Paterson was the second player in Jeopardy! episode #7598 (Season 34 match 13; aired 27 September 2017), losing to eventual 12-time champion and Tournament of Champions finalist Austin Rogers on the final clue. He is also the source of the audible off-camera freakout in reaction to Rogers's widely-publicized $34,000 Final Jeopardy! wager on the following Monday's episode.

Paterson joined the LearnedLeague in its 75th season, as PatersonP.
