'''Quinterest''' is a question database search engine dedicated to helping players everywhere sharpen their skills and increase their knowledge. The name derives from the combination of “quiz bowl” and “interest." It was [http://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=123&t=14574 created by] [[Rohit Lalchandani]], with database assistance from Joshua Duncan and Jacob Reed. Quinterest allows users to search through question sets that have been stored within its database, and users can choose to filter results by difficulty (middle school, high school, college, open) or by subject. One can also choose to search for words in just the answerline or words in the answerline and question.

Quinterest was a question database and search engine. It is now defunct. It was created by Rohit Lalchandani[1] and was later maintained by Jacob Reed. As with other question databases, Quinterest stored a variety of question sets which could be accessed by users. It also allow users to search by keyword in either the answerline or the question text and filter the results by difficulty (middle school, high school, college, open) or by subject.

Because of the parsers used to create the original database, Quinterest would sometimes include truncated questions and other problems.

While it was still active, users would frequently ask whether the site was down, as it experienced frequent downtime. Consequently, the phrase "is quinterest down?" became a meme on various online channels.

Updates

  • Version 1.0: bonus question searching capability was added
  • Version 2.0: the addition of a user-friendly front-end for adding more questions, support for subcategories, major under-the-hood upgrades, and combined tossup-bonus search
