There are definitely specific people who posted about being called for conferring at specific games in College Bowl for doing things like raising the buzzer, turning their heads towards their teammates, etc.  I guess you can be skeptical about whether they are truthfully and accurately recalling the incidents if you want, but this is not "apocryphal" and can be cited to the posts on old fora discussing it if desired.  [[User:Matt Weiner|Matt Weiner]] ([[User talk:Matt Weiner|talk]]) 20:51, 8 February 2022 (CST)

The claim on the page is specifically that someone was called for conferral for raising their buzzer because the answer was the Statue of Liberty [and therefore raising the buzzer allegedly amounted to giving information about the answer], right? Is that version seriously documented? —Jonah (talk) 22:09, 8 February 2022 (CST)
I've added an additional clause to that sentence to indicate that there are non-apocryphal counterparts to the anecdote already there. I'd love to be able to add sources though, so if you ever wrangle those let me know. -Kevin Wang (talk) 10:18, 9 February 2022 (CST)
