I don't think this is codified anywhere but generally I think it makes sense to have shorter lingo pages like this be part of the larger [[Quizbowl lingo]] page unless it has enough content to justify an independent page. In this case, if there were any documented examples of this happening then I think it would fit here, but otherwise it seems like this only needs a paragraph or so of explanation.

Is this term attested? I don't think I've ever heard it used in a way specific to this meaning, and this whole page reads like a grudge. Jonah (talk) 19:17, 21 February 2021 (CST)

I've heard it a lot in my area. Its not a grudge against anyone because I can never say if it was an actual error or intentional in addition I often dont even know the full results until after the fact and nothing can be done about it, I just added a term I've heard numerous times. Edit:I should note this type of thing happening is rare and I in no way mean to invoke the idea I'm blaming my team's shortcomings on this but I know with certainty that it does happen every so often. Christian (talk) 20:39, 21 February 2021 (CST)

It's a pretty harsh concept, accusing a tournament director of deliberately doing their job incorrectly so as to punish a team, and such accusations of unethical behavior should not be undertaken lightly. If you think this is common in your area, I suspect either your area has uniquely widespread ethical problems or the people making such accusations have an unjustifiedly pessimistic and accusatory view of humanity. Anyway, assuming that such cases really exist, sure, the term "screwjob" seems like an application of its ordinary usage in slang English, but I don't think it's "quizbowl lingo". Jonah (talk) 20:54, 21 February 2021 (CST)

Well I dont mean to make it sound like my area has bad ethics and sorry if I did. Since you're the head guy here should I remove the categories or just delete the page totally? Christian (talk) 21:16, 21 February 2021 (CST)

I'd be glad to get some opinions from other people involved with the QBWiki. Jonah (talk) 22:30, 21 February 2021 (CST)

Not only have I never before heard this term used in quizbowl (or even outside of quizbowl), I have never heard of anyone but me deliberately falsifying results in quizbowl. Ophir Lifshitz (talk) 08:00, 22 February 2021 (EST)
