• While playing the NSC mirror of 2015 BONGOS Eric fell off the hotel bed he was sitting on while being outbuzzed by Ike Jose to a tossup on vorticity on a clue about Ertel's theorem, which the two had discussed recently.

• In the aftermath of Watkins-gate, Evan Adams coined the phrase "better at science than Eric" as a code word for "cheating". For many years after the event, Eric would mark the occasion by eating Thai food in reference to a question that Andy Watkins had answered fradulently.

• Due to travel disasters Eric missed the majority of rounds at the Princeton mirror of WAO II. His arrival during and subsequent neg on the final tossup of round 9 meant that he briefly had a PPG of -100.
