Nationally syndicated writer of the column "Ask a Mexican!"
Graduated from Anaheim High School in 1997. In his 2008 book Orange County: A Personal History, he notes that "My only extracurricular was the Kiwanis Bowl, a sort of high school Jeopardy! where my nerdiness proved so dominant that my team - me and a couple of warm bodies - won two years straight (my senior year, all of Anaheim's nerds united to try to dethrone me; I nuked them."
