Springfield Local High School is located in New Middletown, Mahoning County, Ohio. Springfield is one of the charter members of the Mahoning County Quizbowl League and has always maintained a competitive team in county competitions, even though they have failed to reclaim the form that won them three consecutive League titles earlier in the decade. The school has also been essential to the organization of the competition; the former coach, Jerry Hiznay, directed the League for the majority of his time as coach.
Springfield competed in the First Division of the Mahoning County Quizbowl League in 2008 and will also compete in said division in 2009.
