Pickrell: "In four years approximately we will be
voting for a new President."

etc: "Funny...
that's what people were saying the "day after" Clinton
won in 1992. Oh well..."

Was it really the day
after? Maybe I got a warped view (Cambridge, MA, isn't
exactly representative of the rest of the nation) but
everyone around me was fawning over the guy. Remember,
this is back when one of his flunkies seriously
suggested BCTV, letting us watch what he did 24 hours a
day.

Hey, remember his economic summits where he brought
all those eggheads to Arkansas that December? I
wonder whether one of them suggested that the Internet
would be a good way to reduce transaction costs?
:-)

(Funny thing about Al Gore, inventor ("I took the
initiative in creating the Internet"), is that setting up
that canard as a running joke blunts the criticism
that the economy succeeded because of the Internet
rather than the White House. In a bassackwards way, even
as a joke there's still the tie-in
involved.)
