Re: PB10: Packets in the chat room

In response to the accusations of lack of
foresight by the staff of Penn Bowl 10, I must say that I
strongly disagree. I think Samer and the rest of the Penn
team did a great job, especially considering the
magnitude of this annual undertaking.
I believe my team
averaged over 22 tossups per game, and I don't think we
got through any fewer than 20 in any round. We may
have encountered a few problematic questions (the
number of which one could count on one hand), but a) out
of hundreds of questions submitted, a tournament
staff cannot be expected to catch all possible errors
and b) these errors are really the fault of the team
submitting faulty questions. It's the nature of the beast
when it comes to packet submission tournaments;
they're as good as we, the competitors, make them.

The staff also was efficient and equitable in its
remedies for all problems. And the whole thing stayed
reasonably close to schedule, especially considering how
large the tournament is.
And so I commend Samer and
the whole Penn Bowl 10 staff for a job well
done.
