Re: Beall-Steal 2001

I, for one, am not accusing him of copyright
violation, because I don't know if he is, or not. I simply
asked, "If he is guilty of copyright
violations,...."

As a high school teacher and academic team coach, I
try to instill intellectual honesty in my students.
We consider using the work of others, without
attribution, a serious offense. It is considered a serious
honor code offense in any high school or college. Our
team writes questions for our own tournaments.
Hopefully, they are not copying the works of others. If they
did, I would consider that a serious matter. I do not
wish a lawsuit on anyone, just that they provide a
positive role model of intellectual honesty for our young
people. I mean, how hard is it to take the same set of
facts and fashion a question in your own wording. Just
cutting and pasting other people's questions, whether or
not they have put them in the piblic domain, and then
selling said questions, is not just sleaziness; it's
intellectual laziness as well as dishonesty.
