Outline NAQT ICT selection process (2)

[continuing previous message]

STAGE 3 (if
needed): The next five invitations, if needed, are issued
based upon a return to the SCT ranking order
established for Stage 1.

STAGE 4 (if needed):
Invitations are now issued to any overall 2nd-place teams at
an IFT who have not already been invited, whether or
not they attended an SCT. After that, for any further
invitations that are necessary we would return to the SCT
ranking order established for Stage 1, except that we
might at this stage also entertain wild card
applications from teams that did not attend an SCT for
whatever reason, and who have yet performed well enough in
other events to merit consideration -- the evaluation
of such criteria, and how to rate it against the SCT
ranking order, will be entirely at the discretion of
NAQT.

Division II:

STAGE 1:

1. 100% of initial
Division II invitations (presently 24 invitations) are
based upon SCT performance--automatic invitations for
each SCT champion, and then reliance upon the same
statistical ranking system that is used to compare Division I
performance across different sectionals--or upon the decision
of an SCT host to use its automatic entry for a
Division II team (which is possible only if that school
has not also qualified a Division I
team).

STAGE 2 (if needed): Additional invitations will be
issued as needed to fill the field at the desired number
in the following order of priority, with NAQT to
determine any additional tiebreaking procedure that ever
becomes necessary:

2. Overall Division II
champions at an IFT who were unable to attend an SCT
because none were held within 450 miles of their
school.
3. The next five invitations, if needed, are issued
based upon a return to the SCT ranking order
established for Stage 1.
4. Overall Division II champions
at an IFT who have not already been invited, whether
or not they attended an SCT.
5. Any remaining
invitations needed are issued based upon the SCT ranking
order established for Stage 1.
