I think there is a certain amount of merit to the
resentment factor. (See MAQT Lexicon - Spite)
On a
basic level, people involved in QB can get props from
nonQB people (if they care about that) by beating the
Ivies. (regardless of how good the Ivy squad
is)
Of course once people start playing, you put the
"bullseye" on whichever teams are the best regardless of
reputation outside the circuit. You get sick of losing to
teams, start to play harder, outwork them, and begin to
win.
It feels real good.
