Re: So! Deep Bench!

Four hours may not be too bad in some situations.
However, in this case, in which the players in the singles
rounds jumped straight from one round to the next
without changing rooms, it got to be mighty
monotonous.

<7. Linked tossups/bonuses. I think this is such an
obvious improvement, I will impose it
 whenever I have
the opportunity. It greatly improves the aesthetics
of the game, and others
 should experiment with
it. Clearly how close the TU and Bonus should be
linked is an area
for debate, but the concept of
linking is the way G-d intended it.>

Please
explain. It would seem that you like the idea of linking
TU and bonii, but apart from the "aesthetics" (?),
you don't really explain why. I would also prefer
that you did not dismiss objections with references to
divine revelations, but I guess that's just
me.

All in all, Deep Bench wasn't bad. I thought that the
question writing guidelines were somewhat micromanaged.
But frankly, I wish that the innovations displayed
this year had been placed in a different tournament.
Deep Bench wasn't broke, and I don't think it needed
fixing.
