Maggie Walker Governors School (often Maggie Walker or Gov for short) is a public magnet school located in Richmond Virginia. Formerly known simply as "Governors School", it was attached to Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond until the fall of 2001, when it moved into the abandoned Maggie Walker High School. The quizbowl team has been coached by John Barnes since 1999, and by Hana Reed since 2013. They host the annual house-written GSAC tournament in December, which has been well-received for its quality and mirrored nationally in recent years. The school also ran a novice tournament called HAVOC in April of 2008 and 2009.
State Championships
Maggie Walker teams have won the NAQT Virginia Championship in 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and the AAA VHSL State Championships in 2000, 2003, and 2007.
