As a student at The Evergreen School, Andrew competed in the National Geographic Bee, ultimately winning the Washington State title in 2014 and losing on tiebreakers at nationals for a shared 11th place.
Andrew was recruited to Lakeside's team by then-captain Eric Zhou and helped revive Lakeside's quizbowl program after the graduation of Kyle Haddad-Fonda. He helped introduce them to National History Bee and Bowl and was responsible for renaming the club from "Knowledge Bowl" to "Quizbowl". He was a proponent of using Protobowl and Quinterest for studying.
Andrew was best known for his exploits in the Northwestern region NHBB - along with former NGB competitor Austin Wei, he won the regional bowl three times, the bee twice, and USGO five times. During this time, the Lakeside team were perennial rivals with the Jonathan Tran-led Westview (OR).
