Collegiate was the dominant team in Virginia quizbowl in the 1980s and early 1990s and won the televised National Academic Championship in 1990. Except for one year in which the club was defunct in 2014-2015, Collegiate has continuously sent teams to Battle of the Brains and area invitational tournaments for almost 40 years.
