Michael Mays is a PhD student who has played quizbowl at Imperial College London since 2020. Alongside Adam Jones, Enoch Yuen and Justin Lee, Michael was part of the Imperial A team that enjoyed considerable success in UK tournaments in the 2022-23 season, including winning the 2023 British Student Quiz Championships for the first time in Imperial's history. He was also on both Imperial teams to have attended ACF Nationals. Michael Mays is Imperial's most prolific quizbowl player, having participated in more than 20 tournaments during his time there, not including opens. Outside of quizbowl, he was the captain of the Imperial team that won the 2021-22 series of University Challenge. Michael has a reputation of being a generalist, although his strongest subject is literature.

Michael Mays was first recommended to join the quiz society by fellow student Michael Kohn during a pub quiz organised with Imperial's book club. His first tournament experience was on the Imperial C team alongside Enoch Yuen at the 2020 BSQC, with his final tournament as a student being the 2024 BSQC, in which Imperial A placed second.
