Tuhin Chakraborty played quizbowl at Troy High School and now plays for Michigan.

Allegations of Misogyny

Tuhin was accused of misogyny after he omitted one of the team's female players in the Michigan C roster at the 2020 ACF Winter tournament (allegedly for a financial discount at the tournament), although he justified his actions by calling them an "honest mistake" because he never heard from her during the tournament. Nonetheless, his behavior was found to have violated the "Ethics and Conduct" section of the quizbowl club's constitution. Tuhin later apologized for "how [his] actions poorly reflected upon the organization and [he bears] full responsibility for this".

A Michigan quizbowl club member additionally accused him of "sexist and coded language" stemming from incidents in their personal life., although this was mostly dismissed by arbiters within the University of Michigan. However, Tuhin was strongly condemned for accusing his victim of gaining "perverse romantic tension" from the whole affair, and generally smearing them instead of defending himself.

Consequences

Tuhin received a short 2-week ban from Michigan quizbowl practices, although this was attacked as "meaningless". Later, several Michigan executive board members eventually resigned, and the Iowa quizbowl team banned Tuhin from their upcoming mirror of IKEA.

Most seriously, on April 30, 2021, Tuhin received a 1-month ban from the Hsquizbowl forums.
