Caitlin Self (or Cait Self) was a player for the University of Edinburgh, where she was the quiz society's president for the 2024/25 academic year, during the final year of her undergaduate studies. Cait's presidency at Edinburgh has been credited with cultivating a more sociable environment within the society, by holding more social events and encouraging the integration of new members. In 2024, Edinburgh experienced a large intake of new and dedicated quizzers, who would ultimately go on to attend a number of tournaments, this has been attributed to Cait's work on fostering an exceptionally welcoming atmosphere within the society. Cait was a part of the Edinburgh team which participated in the 54th series of University Challenge, reaching the second round. In 2025 Cait was the tournament director for the UK's northern mirror of VAULT, hosted in Edinburgh.

Outside of quizbowl, Cait is a passionate fan of Tottenham Hotspur (for her sins). She is known within Edinburgh circles for her "expertise" on Muammar Gaddafi.
