Tianyu Xu

Tianyu Xu is a player at Georgia Tech and current club president. In addition to his presidency, he is also noted for being a member of the Georgia Tech God Squad. He is also known as Tossup Tianyu.

GT Political Legacy

As President Tianyu is most noted for increasing the number of tournaments GT participates in, to the point that Alex Thomas in a post Nats 2026 interview during the 2025-2026 school year repeatedly told his family last minute "Oh, I'm at Vandy this weekend" from being roped into another QB tourney.

Tianyu rise into power in GT Quizbowl came about when one semester the only officer to attend practice was the Treasurer Michael, leading to Tianyu naturally take up responsibility as part of a new shadow government. Next semester, in a close race by one vote won Vice President the next year, and as VP greatly expanded the number of tournaments GT participated in. Popular appeal of being VP to the beloved Samir Sarma led to a landslide win of Tianyu for 2025-2026 president. Tianyu expanded the GT discord into the format known today, continued Samir's fantastic traditon of QB socials, and instilled a competitive love of Quizbowl around him; all of which led to an easy reelection for the 2026-2027 school year despite his blatant dictatorial abuses of power including changing a user's color randomly on the discord for his own bemusement. Tianyu's regime's unbelievable popularity is testified to by his reelection after what would be for others career ending gaffs involving "sliming" people and his NBA watch parties of the Nuggets. His love for Quizbowl is most apparent by the scars of his wallet. He as of January allegedly spent over $6000 out of pocket on covering Quizbowl that has yet to be reimbursed by the Student Government, according to one car ride interview.

Notable Episodes

Tianyu's singing of Let it Go at 4am on the way back from 2025 ACF Winter allegedly made Graham Cope swear to never be in a car with Tianyu again. It is worth noting Tianyu is actually an extremely good singer so it could've been the 99 bottles of beer on the wall earlier that caused Graham to snap. On the drive to 2025 MRNA, after having just last tournament criticized the treasurer for booking the wrong hotel date, Tianyu arrives at the hotel to find he himself booked the wrong weekend. The entire GT team ended up sleeping in his Tesla.
