Robert Muñiz (high school class of 2022) was a quiz bowl player for Midtown Classical, a homeschool collective coached by Kevin Cox in Tallahassee, Florida, from 2014-2019. He now attends Classical Conversations, which does not have a quiz bowl team. He is, in all likelihood, permanently retired. He placed fifth in the 2019 NAQT IPNCT as a freshman.

Notable Achievements

Robert was named NAQT's MS Player of the Week for the week of October 14, 2017. He was named an All-Star at the 2016 MSNCT (6th grade), at the 2017 MSNCT (7th grade), at the 2017 HSNCT (7th grade), and at the 2018 MSNCT (8th grade). Robert won the 2016 Elementary History Bee, the 2017 7th Grade History Bee, and the 2018 8th Grade History Bee. He placed second in the inaugural Elementary Academic Bee, losing to Shiva Oswal in the finals. Two years later, he won the 2018 Middle School Academic Bee. Robert also holds the NAQT record for most powers in a game (17) and highest individual PPG (285), acheived during the Fourth Annual Egghead Invitational. He was awarded a spot on the 2018 Middle School National A Team after being nominated in 2017.

Robert has been a member of the Midtown Classical quiz bowl program since 2014, becoming the captain of its A-team in 2016. Midtown Classical teams placed 13th, 8th, and 5th in the MSNCT (2016, 2017, and 2018), 3rd at the 2016 Academic Bee in the elementary division, and 5th and 3rd at the Middle School History Bowl (2016, 2017, 2018). In 2018, Robert captained Midtown Classical to a second-place finish at the 2018 US Academic Bowl.
