Prior to the 2014 VHSL Realignment, VHSL Region B was a VHSL region in class A, consisting of schools with less than 700 students lying, for the most part, in the Southside of the Commonwealth or along interstate highways 66 and 81 east of the Shenandoah Valley area. It contained the Bull Run District, Dogwood District, James River District, and Shenandoah District. Like all VHSL regions, it sent two teams to the VHSL Scholastic Bowl state championship tournament for the sixteen-year duration of the original Scholastic Bowl tournament structure.
