Region 7 used an 8-team single elim...I believe
the reason had something to do with a shortage of
questions, but I'm sure Joe knows better than I...
In
regard to the single elim in general...I've never been a
fan of that format. My team was the 8th seed, which
promptly got flattened by Michigan...so that was the end
of our playoff birth. It would have been nice to
drop down and play a couple more games before getting
eliminated...but you can't always have your cake and eat it too, I
guess.
