Dorman's program was founded in 1982. Since then, it has been one of the most consistently great high school quizbowl teams in the country, having been a contender at the national level essentially every year since 1983. They run the Dorman Cavalier Academic Challenge every year.
Dorman quizbowl was coached by Eric Huff. After Huff left to join the National History Bowl staff, Geoffrey Thomas took over as head coach.
