The Missouri Academic Competition Message Board was launched in 2004 by James Patterson. The moquizbowl.com domain was registered in late 2007.
Discussions on the board mostly pertain to high school events held in Missouri, the majority of which are in a format similar to that used by MSHSAA, which has overseen quiz bowl in Missouri since 1996.
