Northeast collegiate circuit
The Northeast circuit, or New England circuit, is a collegiate Quizbowl circuit which hosts tournaments within the New England region. ACF defines the region as containing tournament sites in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.[1]
Naming and Definition
The naming of the Northeast/New England collegiate circuit depends on the organization referencing it.
ACF[2] and Ryan Rosenberg's College Quizbowl Stats website[3] refer to the circuit as the Northeast region.
NAQT and Ophir Lifshitz's College Quizbowl Calendar website[4] refer to the Northeast circuit as the New England region. While New England sites have historically been considered for both NAQT SCT Northeast and NAQT SCT New England tournaments, after 2010 they have only hosted tournaments under the latter name.
Though all universities in New England, regardless of location, are theoretically able to host tournaments in the circuit, tournaments can be expected to be held either in New Haven, Providence, or Greater Boston, due to the strength of the teams within and the ease of access to their metropolitan areas.
Hosts since 2022-23
Greater Boston, Massachusetts
Providence, Rhode Island
New Haven, Connecticut
Presence of New York teams
Many New York teams, historically Columbia, have played in Northeast/New England regional tournaments, especially at Yale sites available via the Metro-North.
