We Have Never Been Modern was a side event written by Mike Bentley. It was a spiritual successor to Will Butler's Questions Concerning Technology that primarily focused on the history and pop culture of technology in the 19th century onward and inspired the later tournaments The Human Use of Human Beings and A Culture of Improvement.
