Liam Kusalik was a quizbowl player at the University of Waterloo. In high school, he played Reach for the Top for future powerhouse The Renert School. He played on the Waterloo team that won the 2023 DII ICT, along with Mattias Ehatamm, Michael Du, and Gaian Valdegamo, and with Ehatamm, Du, and Jared He, he played on the Waterloo team that placed 4th and 9th at 2024 ACF Nationals and 2025 ACF Nationals, winning the undergraduate title at the latter. In the 2024 and 2025 seasons, he was widely recognized as the best Science player in Canada, and one of the best on the closed circuit as a whole. His incredible Science performances were held up by nearly unparalleled buzzer discipline, with only 4 negs across 18 games at 2025 ACF Nationals.
