Michael Du is a quizbowl player at the University of Waterloo, and thrice served as its president in a Dmitry Medvedev-esque fashion. He played on the Waterloo team that won the 2023 DII ICT, along with Mattias Ehatamm, Liam Kusalik, and Gaian Valdegamo, and with Ehatamm, Kusalik, and Jared He, he played on the Waterloo team that placed 4th and 9th at 2024 ACF Nationals and 2025 ACF Nationals, winning the undergraduate title at the latter.

He is noted for his wide-ranging knowledge of ethnicities, with a particular interest in the history and practices of the Jewish people. He secured first buzzes at both 2024 and 2025 Nats with knowledge of Malagasy riziculture. He is also noted for frequently sleeping mid-quizbowl tournament, often sleeping all the way through lunch breaks at tournaments. At 2022 CMST, he managed to be the second-most effective player on bonuses despite spending a large portion of the tournament asleep.
