Richard Montgomery High School, often referred to as RM, is a public high school located in Rockville, Maryland. It is notable for its two national championships (PACE in 2002 and NAQT in 2006), and for its International Baccalaureate Magnet Program, which draws from Montgomery County, Maryland.

Competitions

Richard Montgomery is a frequent participant in the Mid-Atlantic invitational circuit, having fared quite well in recent years. RM is also, as of 2007, the two-time defending NAQT state champion of Maryland and DC. RM also regularly competes in the It's Academic television show, the Quizmaster Challenge television show, and the Montgomery County Beltway League. RM has also placed in the top ten of the Knowledge Master Open numerous times in the past, but no longer participates.

Multiple Formats

The nature of RM's leadership dictates a focus on pyramidal questions and events, leading the team to be a frequent participant on the national stage. In addition to its two National championships, RM finished tied for third at PACE NSC in 2004, sixth at NAQT HSNCT in 2005, second at PACE NSC in 2006, and tied for fifth at NAQT HSNCT in 2007. However, RM is notable among top-echelon pyramidal teams of recent years in that it has been consistently competitive on much more speed-based formats as well.
