Scattergories
Scattergories was a series of open side events written by Will Nediger noted for their difficulty, vanity subject matter, and sense of whimsy. The first three Scattergories were run in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and were written entirely by Will; Scattergories 4 and 5 were held in 2020 and 2021 and involved collaborators. Players highly praised every iteration of Scattergories.
The set is loosely based on the the Milton Bradley party game, whose premise is to come up with unique answers in a provided list of categories - in this case, the topics are "things Will likes", which spans a wide range of topics in literature, arts, thought, and a lot of 'mixed' (sensu NAQT) questions.
Since producing Scattergories, Will has also produced the similarly vanity tournament Logomachy.

Inspiration
Scattergories is the premiere example of the auteur side event, with each of the first three sets written entirely by Will and entirely motivated by his interests. The set has directly and indirectly inspired many other sets: starting in 2020 sets other vanity packets began using the libfix -gories, spawning "Taylorgories" and "Victorgories" (the libfix scatter- was also used in "Scatterwonnies").[1]
Other single-author vanity sets in the same vein as Scattergories include TELEOLOGY by Taylor Harvey and QBOWLOSM by Jordan Brownstein.
