Zach Pace is the president of the team at Buffalo, where he specializes in physics, astronomy, and math. He also writes for NAQT.

High School Career

Zach played for Clarence High Schol, a suburban school outside Buffalo, NY, from 2009 to 2010. During this time, he played in a local, non-pyramidal scholastic bowl league, whose supplier was Questions Unlimited. He also played an intramural trash tournament at the University at Buffalo during the winter of 2007-2008.

In 2009, Clarence was undefeated in the regular season of Scholastic Bowl, but lost in the first round of the playoffs. In 2010, Clarence had an overall winning record, but again lost in the first round of the playoffs.

During this time, he had no idea that any other type of quiz bowl existed, and was unaware of the success of the local Masterminds leagues.

Collegiate Career

Zach entered the University at Buffalo in the fall of 2010. After trying to track down the College Bowl club that had existed several years before, he discovered that its members had graduated without recruiting any new members, in the wake of College Bowl's demise.

Zach placed second at the 2011 Region II SCT in New Paltz, NY. His teammates were Travis Nemmer (with whom he attended Clarence High School), Pratyush Joshi, and Sarah Mye. Zach has also attended MUT 2011, MAGNI, MOO, and ACF Fall 2011, at which Buffalo A finished at the top of the lower division. That team consisted of Zach, Pratyush Joshi, and Matt Hill.

Writing

Zach has written for NAQT since November 2011. He writes mostly physics and astronomy, but also a smattering of other (non-Chemistry) sciences, mythology, and literature. He also likes writing pop culture.
