The 2017 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament was held at the Mariott Marquis hotel in Atlanta, GA, on May 26–28, 2017. 304 teams attended, making it the largest single-site quiz bowl competition ever (beating the record of 272 previously shared by the 2014 through 2016 HSNCTs).
Hunter College High School A won the tournament for the second consecutive year, this time beating Detroit Catholic Central A in the second game of a final in which DCC A had been advantaged.
Ithaca entered the playoffs in the losers' bracket and ended up finishing fifth, the second-highest finish for a 6-4 prelim team in the post-2007 HSNCT playoff format, and the highest for a team that was not dealing with exceptional circumstances on Saturday as Loyola was in 2013.
