Scattergories is a series of very hard, whimsical open side events written by Will Nediger. There have been four iterations so far, running in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively. The third of these was written in collaboration with Jaimie Carlson. Players have highly praised all four Scattergories sets. Will, Kim and Mike Bentley are writing a fifth set for Summer 2021.

Inspiration

Scattergories is the premiere example of the auteur side event, with each of the first three sets written entirely by Will and entirely motivated by his interests. The set has directly and indirectly inspired many other sets: starting in 2020 sets other vanity packets began using the libfix -gories, spawning "Taylorgories" and "Victorgories" (the libfix scatter- was also used in "Scatterwonnies").[1]

Other single-author vanity sets in the same vein as Scattergories include TELEOLOGY by Taylor Harvey and QBOWLOSM by Jordan Brownstein.
